Hope the festive season was enjoyable but safe and you didn’t put on too much weight. The years are just flying by, 2011 came and went and now we have another new year ahead of us. Well, as always, we take the year as if it comes, what ever the universe provides and takes away, we are very thankful to be out there living life and playing music to everyone. Ardijah are looking forward to doing it again this year. We’ll be working on new stuff hopefully some new albums in the pipeline. We definitely have some new video clips coming out this year shot in Hawai’i and Hollywood LA filmed by our mate & Bro Mike from ‘Hakaboy Productions. Looking forward to showing those off. We’ll be bouncing between here and facebook so all good folks, see you soon. Capt Fonk.

ARDIJAH ~ RUIA ~ ADEAZE “Le Voyage Oz Tour”

Woven into the music tapestry of one of New Zealand’s finest bands whom have graced our stages, followed our life’s journey and touched our hearts for some 28 years, Ardijah are taking their tour ‘LeVoyage’ to Aussie this November as part of the journey to share home grown music with our expat Kiwi community residing in Aussie who are always longing for the shores of Aotearoa. Accompanying Ardijah on the tour this year are our R&B Samoan brothers Adeaze, and well known Maori reggae jazz musician Ruia Aperahama, to also bring their sounds of home to your hearts.Ardijah’s recognition and contribution to the New Zealand Music Industry for over two decades has been recently honoured as recent recipients of the 2011 Waiata Maori Music ‘Industry Award’ and the 2010Pacific Music, Lifetime Achievement Award 2010.

The latest album, ‘The Best Poly Fonk’ was released November 2010 and is a definitive collection of their distinctive classic hits with a twist ~ the addition of four popular cover songs. Ardijahs’ fifth album thus far.

Ardijah Celebrate Matariki

May 4th, 2011

Matariki - Te Arawa Poster for 23 June 2011

YES! IT WENT OFF! Awesome gig!

“Kua tae ki te Wa” – The Time has Come
“An evening celebrating Matariki and honouring Te Arawa women”

In our traditional Māori histories and herstories, Matariki epitomises a mother surrounded by her six daughters, while we acknowledge in other traditions and Polynesian societies there is the belief that Matariki is a male star.

In light of the upheaval which has beset many of us in Aotearoa New Zealand following the earthquakes in Christchurch and right around the Pacific, a passionate group of Te Arawa women felt the time has come – “Kua Tae Ki Te Wā” will be an evening of reclamation and celebration of Papatūānuku and her children to herald a time of growth, a time of change, a time of rebirth.

Ardijah play Tahiti @ the ‘Super Aito’ race.

August 18th, 2010

Ardijah play for the 1st time in Tahiti @ the ‘Super Aito’ (Oe Va’a Outrigger Canoe) August 14th 2010. A nice warm break from the New Zealand winter. It was more like a working holiday but without the work. The Island was beautiful, the people and the food was ‘meita’i roa’. The gig at To’ata, (the main waterfront area in Pape’ete) set to a backdrop of a beautiful Tahitian sunset, went off with the new audience being exposed the Ardiajh PolyFonk sound. The response to the band’s music was awesome, a bit of the new mixed in with the traditional. Happy people everywhere. “Maruru roa”.

Ardijah jam da PolyFonk in Australia.

August 4th, 2010

Ardijah jammed in GoldCoast & Melbourne 31st July & 1 Aug. It was short but sweet! Just another catch up with the Ardijah fan family. The Band has been around since the late 70’s and still we have old friends that still haven’t seen Ardijah live! “Keep it coming love”.
